The WSOP
The World Series of Poker is a set of poker tournaments annually that takes place in Nevada, USA. The origin of the event dates back to 1969, with an event called Texas Gambling Reunion. Tom Moore of Castle Hills, Texas sponsored the event. Then, in 1970 the American gambling icon, Benny Binion invited some of the best-known poker players of that time, for a single tournament.
In 2005 the WSOP started being seen as a worldwide event, with attendees coming from several different parts of the globe. Then, the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) happened in 2007, as the first WSOP championship out of Vegas. The inaugural WSOPE was made up of three different events in London. Finally, in 2011 the WSOPE moved from London to Cannes, France. From 2013 to 2017 it happened only in odd-numbered years while the World Series of Poker Asia Pacific (WSOP AP) happened in even-numbered years.
2022 WSOP® Las Vegas
The most prestigious poker series opens its doors on the Las Vegas Strip. Poker’s oldest and flagship event, The World Series of Poker, begins May 31st and runs through July 20th, 2022, in a new location at Bally’s, the future Horseshoe, and Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. In the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, the tournament will host more than 127,000 players from all over the globe.
The lineup is packed with world-class events, with the highly anticipated $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship, also known as the Main Event, which will happen on July 3-4. This year’s tournament will also feature a guaranteed prize pool of $5,000,000 on the opening weekend of the WSOP called “The House warming” with a buy-in of $500.
