Pegasus Invitational World Cup
Miami became home to the wealthiest Thoroughbred horse race in 2017 when the first Pegasus Invitational World Cup was held at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach.
In January, the annual race features dozens of horses running for millions of dollars, attracting the best horses and owners from around the world and offering fans a horse racing experience like no other.

Nascar Dixie Vodka 400 Weekend
Homestead-Miami Speedway is home to the Dixie 400 Weekend Races.
The event will be held on February 27th and 28th, Sunday’s Dixie Vodka 400, an exciting race in the NASCAR Cup Series with championship appearances on the contested 267 lap line covering 400.5 miles.
The weekend also features races in the NASCAR Xfinity and Gander RV. This is one great option if you’re looking for sports events in Miami.
Miami Open
Miami Open is one of the biggest tennis tournaments in the world, attracting the best players in the sport for two weeks of exciting competition each spring in Miami Gardens.
Thousands of passionate fans worldwide visit South Florida to see the biggest names in music, entertainment and sports converge for the event, which went from Key Biscayne to Hard Rock Stadium in 2019.
The event will happen from March 22nd to April 4th.
World Polo League Beach Polo
Thousands of spectators gather on Miami Beach’s sands to watch the elegant polo sport, which features skilled riders on horseback, during the illustrious World Polo League Beach Polo, Miami Beach.
Throughout the 4-day tournament, eight international teams compete for the trophy. Each day comprises polo matches featuring some of the best players in the world on the sand, along with a series of offsite events that include polo, fashion, and luxury.
The tournament will be held from April 22nd to 25th.
Mercedes-benz Corporate Run
One of the most popular sports events in Miami, the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run brings together entire workplaces for the city’s biggest office with a 3.1-mile run/walk open to full and part-time employees.
With about 25,000 runners participating annually, it is the third-largest 5K in the United States and the largest in Florida. It is also for a great cause, with millions of dollars donated annually to local charities.

Football
The Miami Dolphins have an illustrious history, including Super Bowl titles, Hall of Fame, such as starring Dan Marino and legendary coach Don Shula, and the only “perfect season” in the NFL’s history. Dolphins is Miami’s oldest professional sports team.
Dolphins play their home games at Hard Rock Stadium, a 65,000-seat stadium with an outdoor rooftop that protects most fans from the rain, four state-of-the-art video cards, and great game views, no matter where you be.
The regular NFL season runs from early September to the end of December.
Baseball
Two-time World Series champion Miami Marlins have been the city’s Major League Baseball (MLB) club since 1993 and home to some of the most exciting memories for Miami sports fans.
The team plays their home games at Marlins Park in Little Havana, a state-of-the-art retractable roof stadium that provides a comfortable experience for fans to watch the ball game during the summer months.
The regular MLB season runs from late March to late September.
Basketball
Playing their games at home at the AmericanAirlines Arena in the heart of downtown Miami, Miami Heat is one of the hottest tickets in the city.
With three National Basketball Association (NBA) titles and a colorful history full of stars like Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Alonzo Mourning, Heat is one of the most popular teams in the league.
The NBA season starts in October and ends in mid-April.
University Sports
If you like college sports, there is no shortage of Division I sports offerings in Miami. The University of Miami Hurricanes and FIU Panthers each field from dozens of Division I sports teams for fans to enjoy.
The University of Miami, a member of the Atlantic Coastal Conference (ACC), has a football history with several national championships and a long list of alumni who have become NFL stars. You can cheer for ‘The U’ during the Hard Rock Stadium home games over fall.
The FIU football program, which is called the US Conference (C-USA), is a rising program with several bowl appearances in its young history. The Panthers play their home games at the Riccardo Silva Stadium, a 20,000-seat stadium on the university campus.
Both schools also have college basketball games played during the winter months, and college baseball action during the spring played on their respective campuses.

The Orange Bowl promotes championship sporting events – including the Capital One Orange Bowl and Orange Bowl Basketball Classic – related premier entertainment and other year-round activities to inspire youth, engage our community and enhance the South Florida economy.
The Orange Junior Cup hosts many sports competitions that are part of the Junior Orange Bowl Festival season, attracting thousands of young people from Miami and beyond.
